Here’s Great Tip: What’s Good About Conflict? | Mona Xie | TEDxMulgraveSchool
Here is Something You Should See…
The act of putting yourself out there isn’t always easy. It invites judgement from your audience and it involves confronting that judgement, subsequently confronting your own flaws. But it also provides an opportunity to confront your own strengths and places to improve. Reflecting on her own experiences with public speaking, Mona Xie describes what it’s like as a youth to face conflicting views and expectations on what your work or opinions “should” be, and what’s good about this conflict. Mona Xie has participated in a myriad of debate and public speaking tournaments over the past two years, winning several awards and gaining new, valuable experiences in Canada and other international countries. Her presentation will share her passion and drive to follow her dreams, in spite of the inevitable difficulties and opposition she will face as she challenges herself in a variety of familiar and unfamiliar environments. However, she seeks to inspire youth like her to do the same, and to see conflict as an opportunity rather than an obstacle — something that will either cement your ideals or change your perspectives, both of which give the necessary experience to go even further and even higher. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

Not sure if this should’ve been on Ted Talks, not to criticise her feelings. Maybe she’ll become a writer (Chinese who’ve left China do some of best writing you’ll find).
