Dr. Shankar Naskar describes “The Workshop Model of Entrepreneurship Education,” an educational concept designed to enhance the entrepreneurial culture in rural areas and encourage student interaction with their classmates, instructors, and communities. Shankar is currently programming entrepreneurship education and experiential learning at the University of Virginia at Wise. He is the Director, Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Assistant Professor and the Lead Faculty for the Summer Program in Entrepreneurship and Cybersecurity. Shankar received his Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville, two MBAs from the University of Utah and Goa Institute of Management, India and two MA degrees in Sociology and History from the University of Mumbai. Shankar has been associated with Technology Commercialization at the Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative, Innovation-Based Economic Development in Nevada and with the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. Apart from academia, Shankar is a management consultant and organization-executive coach with more than 20 years of international business and leadership experience. His research interests are at the intersection of strategy-entrepreneurship-human resources.
