Here’s Great Tip: The Meaning of Home & The Need for Global Citizenship | Asukulu Songolo | [email protected]

Here is Something You Should See…

Asukulu Songolo — like so many like him — has never really been home. Join him as he explores his family’s history, and the change he wants to bring back to his true home. Asukulu Songolo is a junior at Central Catholic in southeast Portland. He is the child of refugees of war from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and an immigrant to the country himself. He is active within his school community promoting marginalized groups and identities through his involvement in Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council as well as African American Students United (AASU). Outside of this work, he enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as running track and field. He is passionate about social justice, and in August of 2019, he founded a grassroots movement, The Congo Peace Project. This movement hopes to realize the right to menstrual hygiene and educational opportunity for all Congolese people. After high school, Asukulu hopes to go into International Relations and Business, in order to satisfy his interests in social entrepreneurship and global politics. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

  1. Global citizen = passport
Your country has rich soil. Ok so what can we do or you do.
Half of the video is the same old story. You should talk MORE about your porject your doing. You said we must fight but also want to ask tough questions.

Just stopping the company's from going in isnt enough you have to remove or change the people on the ground. By putting them in the ground or taking them out of the country like your parents did for you. Quick removal of people it should promote others to fallow and listen to your people. But of course they have to be good people who can set good examples.

If you don't like companies from going in stop supporting them. If they ask hey why don't you have the new phone say cause they use congo gold which is killing my family. Same with diamonds use another material that isn't worth to enslave people maybe a tattoo.
