With a major part of the world suffering from water shortages, Ramesh Kumar Soni’s brainchild, VajuJal, which can generate water out of thin air appears to be a miraculous solution to all of our water woes, right from depleting groundwater to impure and polluted water. While Ramesh was preparing in Kota, Rajasthan, to get into an IIT, his passion for nanotechnology brought him to SRM University, Chennai. He later joined IIT Madras for his Master’s degree and as he delved deeper into the subject, this Google Scholar came up with a device known as the ‘Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG)’, varieties of which can generate 100 or 400 litres of water a day. A true inter-disciplinary researcher, he took his project to an international level by taking part in a global contest where he presented the AWG. He was bestowed with the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award by the President of India in 2018 under the ‘innovation for health’ category. This affiliate member of the Royal Society of Chemistry was also invited as an ‘Innovation Scholar In-House Resident’ at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in 2018. Ramesh is constantly at work to improve the technology behind the AWG and increase its efficiency. He strives to make it accessible to all parts of India at an affordable price. He has ambitious goals that can make a huge difference in our society and is working every day to fulfill them. Ramesh Kumar Soni’s creation, a machine that can generate water out of thin air, has the power to revolutionize the world. this could very well be the solution to all of our water woes.
