The LGBTQ community, often mistakenly generalized as affluent, is plagued by widespread economic inequality. In lacking economic power, its members are frequently too poor to fight for the rights they so desperately need. In this talk, Marquita Thomas shows why increasing economic vitality in marginalized communities, through measures such as supplier diversity, is crucial to helping the LGBTQ community as they continue to fight for equality. Marquita Thomas is the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
