Everybody wants to be one of “the best” at their craft. To be the best though you need a different approach to break-through the thousands of other people who also want to be the best at what you do. Gary sat down with Josh York of Gym Guyz to talk about going the extra mile to reach those big goals we all have. They cover topics around mindset, leadership, and tactical actions you need to take to separate yourself from the rest of the pack. They also share personal stories of adversity and perseverance through uncertainty. If you want to be in the top 1% of your thing, you can’t think or do what the other 99% are doing. There is a ton of value throughout this video and hopefully, it is able to help you start thinking about attacking your goals differently… Enjoy!

  1. A. This was not the greatest podcast of Gary Vee's (something about that being stated was just annoying.)
This is not hate – this is just, correction– b/c he was so sucking up our time w/that annoying and false claim. Gary has had way better value, and interviews.
    B. Always be Branding, though ALSO not original, but was the best info in this podcast, b/c everything else Gary already covers in his own content. Franchising, not original. Mobile gym – GREAT for accountability! Kudos! – but not original nor mind-boggling. Again, no hate, just , correction.
    C. Stalking people at their home, and then Gary having to draw line and context by discussing jail and restraining orders = no. You come to my house, you're now definitely not getting the website. Over-persistence and intrusion are two different things. It's not cute and Gary was right.Getting the Website for free was b/c you were a stalker that dude didn't want to deal with being near his family. That's not the win.TRUST that guy made his address private after that unwarranted visit.
    D. Studying Gary to the point of seeming like your whole outlook is. just "in sync" with his – was low key con-artist energy. People who are entirely TOOO agreeable and fast talkers. Nuh-uh.
    E. Kudos to the guy for doing that business though- but that overly-agreeable "fake we're-in-sync" smells a mile away— when it's clear, it's moreso it's the M.O.: I've-been-watching-Gary-Vee-vids, studying his outlook and then cutting him off at the pass to feed him, his own regurgitated outlook. No hate but -Fake I'd be lying to myself if I didn't state that.
Gary, love you and I'm sorry you're dealing with weirdos and restraining orders (geez) – but btw: watch these overly-agreeable, people too. I mean no dis, but I have to keep it real. I'm with making contact 4,000 times as opposed to stalking ppl. There are other ways.

  2. I lost my spark during quarantine. I worked all last year to train at lifetime fitness. Then the virus put me on furlough and I’m done sitting around waiting. It’s time to take charge. Thank you for lifting me up once again.

  3. That casino story is CRAZY! A friend of mine did the EXACT same thing!!

Everything was tapped out took the last $3k he had and turned into $60k and kept the business alive.

I asked him: "why would you do something like that?"

He answered: "I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. It was Hail Mary shot. I just saw every hand before it was pulled- I was in "flow".I believe i could pulled $500k; the hardest part was walking away."

Disclaimer- don't EVER do that! It's a one off story 99.9% will have the opposite result.

  4. A truly amazing evaluator of great people can be one of the most important assets within an organization. This also ties in to the DM discussion. It’s not a knock, but the majority of people DM’ing influencers like Gary don’t know what they are doing. And if they do get through the door, most don’t know how to handle themselves appropriately in a situation like that. Engaging on that level is a gift, OR, takes a lot of experience in succeeding or failing.

  6. Can't stop winners. Period. You can take everything from me, change my field of expertise, and I'm going to slowly grind back up. Profile photo is 2am working out of a code school learning to program. I slept on the couch at the school and brushed my teeth in the bathroom before the other students showed up. Graduated and went to a global company in a dream position, built up enough to feel "comfortable" and left to a startup for no pay increase to build experience. Left to start my own soon after. Two years later, international clients, international team, whole life changed from that photo.
