Kay Hirai, Owner of Studio 904 Hair Design and Spa
Kay came to Seattle from Japan at the age of eleven not knowing a word of English. She did not let that stop her from becoming a leader in the small business world — opening her salon, Studio 904 in 1976. In 2007, Kay wrote and published “Yumi’s Life Lessons, How to Empower Yourself and make Everyday a Happy Day.”

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
