The thriving urbanisation has led to the countless prospects to come down to household fingertips, but, at what cost? A woman who stood against the tides of sand mining and the abhorrence of noise pollution. A story that began with steps that turned into leaps that were a force to reckon with. Sumaira Abudlali is an environmentalist from Mumbai, founder of the NGO Awaaz Foundation and convenor of the Movement against Intimidation, Threat and Revenge against Activists (MITRA). She was co-chairman of the Conservation sub-committee and honorary secretary of Asia’s oldest and largest environmental NGO, the Bombay Natural History Society.
