He shared his story of three tribes -the tower builder(Tycoon), the entrepreneur and the moms who are shaping the future. He also shared his experience with Dubai Silicon Oasis and how they are shaping the future for the future generations. Ghanim Al Falasi was appointed in 2011 as the Senior Vice-President of People Happiness and Innovation of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA). Ghanim brings with him extensive knowledge and know-how in the ICT sector through his previous role as Vice-President of the ICT Unit at Dubai Airports where he provided executive, technological and enterprise administrative leadership employment.
Heading two departments in DSOA, including: People Happiness & Innovation; Al Falasi was mandated to develop and drive strategic plans for People Happiness as well as innovation across the organization.
In 2013, Ghanim was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Smart City Project Committee at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority.
Ghanim holds a BS degree in Computer Science from California State University of Hayward, USA. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

  1. I had a retrospective smile when I saw this video.

    Back at ±2014, I met Ghanem during a conference where he was part of a panel that was discussing the topic of smart cities.
    We had a very short chat where I asked him where he thought the region would be heading in the next 5 years?
    He gave me a look, and told me
    ‘The more important question is where are YOU planning to take the region in the next 5 years?’

    It was one of those moments where I had a sudden change in mindset!

    Always wanted to say thank you for that Ghanem!
