  1. Just recently read Angela Duckworth's book about Grit. It's a masterpiece when it comes to exploring your strengths and then making sure you leverage the f**k out of them. It's mostly based around trying out different stuff (And committing to it for a certain period of time) and figuring out what you actually love and what you're good at.
Similar to Gary's narrative of 'tasting' different things. Love it.

  2. I'm watching this video this week maybe 20 times at least. I cried a few times with that. Damn, I found the definition of who I am. I was jumping too much around and thought I know what I'm doing, but after defining of who I am by the exact definition by an expression gave me a real narrow point of view what to do. Dammit. I did a lot, now I understand better and I'm keeping to watch that video over and over, because you can lose the point of view when you got distracted by your surrounding. You got to protect it. Thank you Gary, very good post and message

  3. I know this is old but I'd like to just say I completely disagree with this.

Self awareness is great but you're inviting people to stay mediocre.

If I didn't give a fuck about my shortcomings, if i stopped focusing on my weaknesses I would never have leveled up so hard recently.

You said people lie to themselves. I think you're lying to yourself Gary.

Take this for what it's worth but I'm just proof that this mentality is wrong.

I was never good at literally anything I'm now great at.

My strengths now are my past weaknesses. I decided what I wanted to become. Self awareness only allows me to see what I am good or bad at. And it is up to me to change that.

One of my ultimate goals in life is to help you buy the jets. And part of that for now is posting here and there these random little tidbits that you'll obviously ignore but will definitely add to your perspective.

Gary if you could level up just ONE of your weaknesses, what would it be?

If you could level up just ONE weakness that is stopping you from buying the jets, if it were possible what would you level up?

I can tell you that it's very possible if you do it properly. Perfect practice makes perfect. If you suck at something, all it takes is the self awareness of WHY.

I'm making this comment because I feel it's my responsibility to tell anyone who's not at this level where they can watch this video and instantly say "Stay mediocre? Fuck that".

If you watched this video and said to yourself "Wow that's amazing, great advice" then you, just like Gary are lying to yourself.

I get the point. Go for your strengths first so you can get money. That's great. And desirable. BUT ONCE YOU ACHIEVE SOME SORT OF SUCCESS and once you're able to devote 6 months to doing nothing but leveling up your weaknesses, it is foolish not to.

In fact, it is imperative that you do. Because your weaknesses are holding your strengths back.

Imagine what you could accomplish with new skills that you never thought you could do.

We're all born with this ability to level up. It's just some things are naturally easier and some things are naturally harder depending on your chemistry and your brain's ability to store that specific coordination of information. But the second that weakness turns into a strength, you've leveled up to a place you would never have gotten if you focused on the path of least resistance.

Because the amount of force necessary to push against a seemingly immovable wall will turn into momentum that pushes all your strengths farther once that wall is broken.

I must write a book on this because I think I'm one of the only people alive who really understand this. And I'm trying to help anyone who reads this to understand it.

  4. Saying crap like being at peace with yourself is one of the things that people who are not self-aware thrive on. They are looking for reasons to stay in their exact same spot until they die. They want to keep their head in the sand. They hate the truth.

  5. Most of us think that this is just positive thinking motivational talk. I can tell you as a psychotherapist that what holds us back and what all fear is, its that we are afraid of our own mind! We are afraid of how our mind will make us feel, how our mind will talk to us, we are our worst enemy when it comes to what goes on in our minds. We need to learn how to manage the supercomputer between our ears! They taught us how to walk and talk, but we never taught how to use our mind to serve us, it’s never too late, learn now and live the life you desire & deserve! #fearanxietystress
