  1. I am so glad Chip reached out to you. Excellent video. This is a topic you have talked about here and here (like why 40 and 50 year olds have an advantage), and I am always looking for more content / thoughts from you (and others) on this topic. I am 52 and I have taught computer classes to people 50 and older who are looking to transition in the work world with more skills. I now focus on business owners over 50 who are new to using Facebook for their business. So many people are NOT looking at 50 as the final stretch towards retirement and those are my people. I look forward to you talking more about this. And totally buying Chip's book.

  2. Hi, I have a question… I’m 16, I am very passionate about proper animal care, especially horses, and the barn where I am at now are not allowing me to follow my passion. I have an opportunity to move to a different barn, however I will have to leave a horse that I have fell in love with and really wish he was mine, so I could bring him with me. Your advice/opinion?

  3. I am 66 years old. Worked as a registered nurse for 25 years. Now, I have relocated to another state (CA to TN) and I am planning to start a non-profit for people experiencing homelessness. I never think of my age when dreaming about my next venture. Thank you for this convo with Chip Conley.

  4. I'm 55yo and just started my own business. I figured my experience counts for something and I've had to do a deep dive into learning so many new things about marketing in 2020. Exhausting but invigorating!

  5. I'm 63 and bought a tiny, local company to scale 3 years ago. Took on a partner 20 years younger than me and now have 50+ employees all of which are very much younger than I am. I've learned so much from all of them and I've had a chance to help them understand how to scale a business. Now have operations in 9 states and have a valuation 10X+ the original buy. Don't retire – just rewire!

  6. Thanks for sharing this. I’m right at the age Chip pointed out on this podcast. The academy sounds like a place that would help solidify some directional questions that have been coming up. When the student is ready…

  7. Happy to hear Gary mention hiring Mad Men era copywriters. I've been looking to hire a similar experienced person for marketing & education. There is so much depth to this way of thinking. Younger isn't always better. Go to the core.

  8. Gary, as a 47 year young elder and brand creator, this piece was great! Far to many talents and minds work to be busy or relevant when what they have under lock and key is “priceless genius.” Your 22 year-old self would be a millionaire tomorrow, but not for all the years it took to make tomorrow happen.

    Make it happen,

    Chris

  9. GaryVee perfect timing with this content.
Im 45, attorney, from Caracas Venezuela, living in the US, creating my own version of a paid advertising agency. Just letting this comment here to come back at it in february 2025 and take a fucking incredible screen shoot.
    Thank you bro.

  10. This really hit home for me. Retired early from reselling at age 62, now selling $15k/mo reselling online (started Feb 2019) and enjoying myself like I did when I first started in 1981, never had a J.O.B. since then. Getting ready to start a podcast because of you, I want to help people of all ages get started selling online. Thanks, Gary.

  11. There are some good nuggets in this interview. A key issue though that needs to be explored is this: regardless of age there is a drive to the bottom when it comes to the exchange of value for peoples time. Young people getting the "privilege" of working for free in a company's intern program. Volunteers "paying" to volunteer. Experienced copywriters working for minimum wage.
